Hornets win final game of season

The Hornet volleyball team defeated Wyalusing 3-2 in the final regular season game of the 2011 season and eliminated Wyalusing from District 4 playoff contention. Junior Hannah Zuchowski led the Hornets in kills with 39. Senior Tarah Doty had 22 service points with 1 ace and added in 5 kills. Junior Mackenzie Marple and Senior Erika Wilson also led the Hornets in assists (38) and digs (20), respectively.
With the win, Wellsboro improves to 10-7 on the season and is the sixth seed in District 4 Class AA playoffs. The Hornets will face Shamokin this Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Williamson.
In JV action, Wellsboro downed Wyalusing in two games to pick up their 14th win of the season.
