Hornet volleyball downs Sayre, 3-0

The Wellsboro Varsity volleyball team picked up a non-league win over Sayre in three games Monday night.
The Lady Hornets won 25-18, 25-16, and 25-20 to take the match.
Junior Danielle Mihalik led the team with 9 kills, Senior Alex Kurtz had 10 assists and 6 points, Senior Katie Straniere had 20 digs, Senior Kaelyn Keane had 12 points, 6 aces, 8 digs, and 2 blocks, and Senior Maggie Smith had 8 kills, 11 points, and 1 ace.
In the J.V. match, the Lady Hornets won 2-0 (25-17 & 25-15). Sophomore Maddy Kyle had 13 points to lead the team and Sophomore Darci Warriner had 6 kills.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 8-9 (3-7 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 23 as they travel to Coudersport.
