Hornet volleyball sweeps Athens

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team swept Athens 3-0 on Tuesday, October 7.
The Lady Hornets won 25-10, 25-17, and 25-20 to pick up the NTL Division 1 victory. Senior Peyton Wilson led the team with 10 points, 4 kills, 8 assists, and 14 digs. Sophomore Kirsten Florio had 8 kills and 4 points, Junior Haley Zuchowski had 9 points and 8 digs, Junior Maddy Kyle had 12 assists, and Junior Darci Warriner had 11 digs and 7 kills.
Senior Jordan Butters scored 9 points, Senior Danielle Mihalik had 7 kills and 8 digs, and Sophomore Morgan Florio had 5 points and and 4 digs on the night.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0 (25-15, 25-14) to improve to 12-2.
With the win, the Varsity team improves to 10-4 (4-3 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Thursday, October 9 as they travel to Towanda.
