MS Volleyball team sweeps Troy

The Wellsboro Middle School Volleyball team picked up their second win of the year with a 2-0 sweep of Troy on Wednesday, September 16.
The young Lady Hornets won 25-12 and 25-18 to take the match. Cathryn Brought led the team in serving, with 14 serves for the night. Ryann Adams (7) and Liza Manning (7) each had a successful night serving.
"What a great night of volleyball," said head coach Jen Outman. "Our passing game was phenomenal. The girls were picking up serves and hits and getting their passes up nicely to the setter."

"The kill was unbelievable," continued Outman. "Our hitting game was on point as well."
Caitlin Callahan (4 spikes, 2 kills, and 2 tips), Ryann Adams (2 spikes and 2 tips), Cathryn Brought (1 hit), and Morgan Stone (1 hit).
"I was extremely impressed by our setting tonight," Outman said. "Many girls stepped out of their comfort zone in order to set the ball to a hitter."
Cathryn Brought lead the team with 7 sets, Ryann Adams (5), Megan Starkweather (4), Caitlyn Callahan (2) and Skylar Runyan (2).
"Troy was a tough team, but the girls worked well together as a team, hustled, and had great communication. A well-deserved win!"
The B Team had an excellent night as well. They won in straight sets 25-14 and 25-20. Ella Brill (8), Olivia Crocco (5), Alina Pretrzk (5), and Megan White (5) led the team is serves. Chelsie English had an amazing kill, with Ashayla Faulkner having two spikes for the evening. Nina Coolidge and Chelsie English moved quickly to retrieve a couple balls to save the game.
With the win, the Lady Hornets are now 2-0 on the year. The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 19 in Canton.
