Lady Hornets close out regular season by sweeping Troy

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team closed out the 2017 regular season on a three-game win streak by sweeping Troy on Thursday, October 19.
The Lady Hornets took the first set 25-18, won the second 25-23, and cruised in the third 25-8 to sweep the season series with Troy.
Sophomore Caitlyn Callahan paced Wellsboro with 10 kills and 5 blocks and sophomore Megan Starkweather also recorded 10 kills. Senior Cheyenne Sherman had 11 points, 4 aces, 7 kills, and a block; senior Jillian Graver had 10 points and 3 aces; and senior Brianne Keane had 28 assists, 7 points, 3 aces, and 1 block.
Senior Hannah Burnett had 12 digs and sophomore Ryann Adams finished with 10.
Wellsboro's JV team swept Troy 2-0 (25-18, 25-22) to finish their season 20-2, their second straight 20+ win season, and third in four years, under coach Michelle McNett.
The win improves the Varsity team's record to 18-4 (12-3 NTL). The team will be off until the start of the District IV playoffs next week.
