Lady Hornets sweep Athens

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team swept Athens 3-0 on the road on Saturday, September 21.

Junior Breighanna Kemp made 19 assists to go along with 11 points, 4 aces, and 10 digs, senior Caitlyn Callahan had 19 kills, senior Megan Starkweather had 9 assists, 8 points, and 2 aces, and junior Kathryn Burnett had 15 digs, 9 points, and 1 ace.

Junior Bailey Monks had 6 kills and sophomore Emma Owlett recorded 5 kills. Monks and junior Shiloh Duff each had 1 block.

In the JV game Wellsboro beat Athens 2-1. Wellsboro won the first set 25-5, lost the second 25-12, then took the third 15-7 to improve to 7-1.

The win in the Varsity game improves the Lady Hornets' record to 8-0 (6-0 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 24 against rival North Penn-Liberty.
