Wellsboro volleyball falls to Athens

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team dropped their second consecutive game after suffering a 3-2 loss to Athens on Tuesday, October 13.
The Lady Hornets took the first set 25-18. Athens rallied to win sets two and three, 25-21 and 25-17, to go up 2-1 for the game. Wellsboro rebounded to take the fourth set with a convincing 25-11 win to force a fifth set, where Athens edged them, 15-10.
Senior Breighanna Kemp led the Lady Hornets with 19 points (1 ace), 8 kills, 16 assists, 20 digs, and 1 block. Junior Jordan Judlin had 17 assists, 7 kills, 11 points, and 3 aces, senior Kathryn Burnett recorded 38 digs, senior Shiloh Duff had 7 kills, 10 points, 2 aces, and 2 blocks, and junior Emma Owlett had 6 kills.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0, taking the first set 25-20 and the second 25-19.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 5-2 (5-2 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action later this evening for the rubber match against Athens.
