Lady Hornets Sweep Loyalsock

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team swept Loyalsock in non-league action on Thursday, September 8.
The Lady Hornets cruised 25-8 to open the game, then survived back-to-back 25-21 sets to claim the win.
Senior Emily Starkweather led Wellsboro with 12 points and 2 kills while senior Maddi Bordas and sophomore Lexi Urena both scored 8 points and had 2 aces. Bordas also added 8 assists and 4 digs, Urena had 3 kills, 5 assists, and 6 digs. Junior Meredith Brownlee scored 4 points (2 aces), made 8 kills, and had 2 assists and 5 digs, and junior Olivia Chilson had 4 points and 2 digs.
Sophomore Paige Logsdon added 5 kills, 2 points (2 aces), and 2 digs. Junior Natalie Cleveland also added 6 points and 6 digs.
Wellsboro also swept the JV game 2-0 (25-11, 25-14) to improve to 2-3 on the season.
The win in the Varsity game improves the Lady Hornets to 3-2 (1-2 NTL Large School Division). The team is back on the court on Monday, September 12 in another non-league game against South Williamsport.
